A two-year-old toddler became the youngest person ever to reach the Everest Base Camp which is located at an elevation of nearly 18,000 feet above sea level.

Carter Dallas, 2, is a British boy who traveled to the south side of Mount Everest in Nepal with his parents Ross and Jade to complete a grueling hike to the Base Camp on October 25.

According to the toddler’s proud parents, they made the decision to ascend the mountain “on a whim” during their one-year travels around Asia.

And while many experts believe children should stay away from altitudes above 10,000 feet, Jade and Ross insisted that Carter was monitored by a doctor and that his medical results were better than theirs and better than expected.

The parents also claimed they all came well prepared for the adventure as they often practiced breathing techniques and took ice baths to train their bodies.

“Carter coped better than me and his mum. We both got slight altitude sickness but he was absolutely fine!” Ross said.

“There were two medics at the villages before base camp and they tested his blood to check he was fine, his results were way better than ours – they were amazed!

“We bought food jackets, and two sleeping bags for the trek – we basically did it on a whim. Within 24 hours of touching down in Kathmandu we started the trek.”

Thanks to this adventure, Carter became the youngest person ever to reach the Base Camp. Previously, a 4-year-old boy from the Czech Republic held the title, reports suggest.

Ross also explained that Carter didn’t struggle as he spent most of his time resting in a strap on his dad’s back.
