At least five people were said to be fighting for their lives and dozens more were reported injured after two trams collided on Saturday in the French city of Strasbourg.
Emergency crews were seen arriving at the scene at Gare Centrale in the French city.
Around 50 people were declared injured as per reports from the Bas-Rhin region’s Fire and Rescue Service.
The crash is said to have taken after one of the trams switched tracks and hit a stationary tram located inside the tram at the Gare Centrale station.
The Mayor for the area where the crash took place says the incident most likely arose by a reversing tram and described the matter as a brutal form of collision.
Local reports also shared more about how one of the tram drivers was killed in the horrifying accident but it’s yet to be confirmed.
One spokesperson for the station explained how the exact cause of the accident was not established but it’s still under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Service requested citizens to please avoid this area to enable access to emergency services.
