A tourist helicopter ended up crashing and killing all 22 individuals on board.
According to reports from local media outlets, the shocking ordeal took place near the Vachkazhets volcano in Russia.
Sadly, the crash’s main cause was described as a pilot error. This saw the vehicle crash while it was making its way towards the mountains. Meanwhile, foggy conditions were said to have played a role in the incident.
Fragments of the helicopter were found that went missing earlier. These were located at about 900 meters near the area where they first last contact.
Russia’s minister for Emergency Situations explained how the remains of those killed were recovered and handed over to the forensics teams.
Sadly, the search and rescue operation is now over without a lot of success.
Some debris from the deadly crash that took place was found in the mountain range area. There were a total of 19 passengers on board and three crew members while the exact breakdown is yet to go public.
The helicopter used for the trip to see the dormant volcano was the Mil Mi-8 which was first designed and created by the Soviet Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute during the 1960s era. This comes under the ownership of Vityaz Aero.
