Four individuals lost their lives and several others sustained serious injuries after a semi-truck rammed into several vehicles stuck in the Michigan highway.
The incident arose over the weekend where several people were declared injured and calls for immediate rescue efforts were brought into place.
The exact location of the tragedy was said to the Interstate 96 that is present near the Michigan 52 Highway. This is where several vehicles were stopped on the expressway due to work being carried out on the power lines.
The troopers had just carried out a shutdown on westbound I-96 at M-52 across the overpass when the expressway just opened up.
The semi-truck with a trailer was heading west on the expressway and then came up on the stopped traffic. It seemed like the driver of the semi-truck didn’t see the backup take place and couldn’t even stop this vehicle at the right time which led to the tragedy.
The impact of the incident was so great that several vehicles including the semi-truck caught on fire and that started to spread.
More updates regarding the incident arose on X which shared how drivers and passengers injured were getting shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries where some included serious burns.
An investigation regarding the incident is currently taking place to determine more details.
