President Donald Trump always seems to be getting his way these days.
The country’s head of state promised to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and it appears like his plans are being brought to life.
Google Maps is all set to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in line with the new President’s wishes.
Trump ordered the sudden name change as part of his long list of executive actions hours after he chose to take office on January 20.
Now, Google will change the ocean basin’s name as it tried to officially update the US Geographic Names System. This change would be visible in America but the name will remain the Gulf of Mexico in Mexico.
Outside of these two nations, users will get to see both names on Google Maps. The matter is certainly a major win for Trump after Columbia decided to give in and also chose to accept its deported migrants.
The current Trump administration explained on Friday how it was going to officially after the name of the Alaskan peak Denali, which happens to be the tallest peak in North America.
Google Maps is under the ownership of Alphabet. It hopes to make a similar change to Mount McKinley soon.
