Former US President Donald Trump is leading all the Republican candidates in a recent poll related to the 2024 presidential election.
According to local media reports, the former president is currently holding a commanding lead over other potential candidates from the Republican camp for the upcoming elections in 2024. And that includes a substantial shocking lead over Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis.
Trump’s lead over DeSantis is by a major 43 percentage points, as revealed in the latest poll.
When individuals were asked who they would be supporting in the year 2024 election, 54% of Republican voters picked out Donald Trump while 11% of them chose Ron DeSantis. Meanwhile, 8% of voters gave their vote to the country’s former Vice President Mike Pence.
The poll was conducted by Reuters/Ipsos last month but the results were only released last Friday.
While the former Commander in Chief has not announced another run for the White House, he has stated that he is definitely thinking about it.
“I certainly think so many people will be very happy with the news. And frankly speaking, with the decision, I guess we’ll probably announce that after the midterms,” Trump boldly stated during an interview conducted in the month of November.
Meanwhile, Nikki Haley who was the UN ambassador in Donald Trump’s administration also managed to secure the fourth position by getting 4% of support.
On the other hand, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas managed to gain 3% of support while former governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott also secured 2 percent of support.
Both Senator Josh Hawley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo each managed to finish up with just 1 percent of votes.
In the end, 14% of voters selected the ‘not sure’ option as they felt they couldn’t make up their minds at this particular time.
