President Trump is working on a new strategy to claim Greenland for the United States, as per a new report.
Trump has repeatedly spoken about his desire to annex the island and bring it under total US control. Currently, it’s operating as an autonomous territory under the Kingdom of Denmark.
Trump’s administration is reviewing a possible means to get more Greenlanders on board with his decision to give Americans full power over the territory, as per a new report from The New York Times.
It could offer a sweet deal, including a yearly payment system of nearly $10,000 for every Greenlander. As a result, it would supplement the current $600M in subsidies that Denmark is providing to the island.
President Trump has been firm on his stance from day one about Greenland’s strategic location and how it would be better off after receiving protection from the US, as the modern threats in the Arctic region are plenty.
We’ve already seen Vice President JD Vance visit the island in March on behalf of the whole Trump administration. This is where he spoke with several service members at Pituffik Space Base and shared how Greenland is currently not safe from any possible threats of invasion by powerful countries like Russia and China.
