Former US President Donald Trump now faces 34 felony charges that carry a maximum sentence of 136 years in prison.
Trump was seen seated in court with his team of lawyers by his side where he was fingerprinted and booked, making him the country’s first president to be arraigned for criminal charges.
This particular case is linked to the high-profile Stormy Daniels case that has left the world stunned after Trump and his team of lawyers are accused of paying hush money to shut her down.
But that did not prove to go down too well in their favor as now, he’s being punished.
Trump displayed a fierce attitude and put up his fist in defiance, calling out the verdict and claiming that he could not believe that something like this was taking place in a country like America.
A stunning 34 felony counts are linked to falsifying business records but he pleaded not guilty to those that weree brought on by the Manhattan district attorney.
If he does indeed get convicted, he would be facing way less that the 136-year prison sentence outlined for the criminal matter.
For those who may not be aware, falsifying business records is deemed to be a misdemeanor in the state of New York but can be raised to be a felony if that action is done to disguise other similar crimes.
A grand jury in Manhattan who heard about the case opted to indict the former US President after taking into consideration the large pool of evidence at stake.
Last Thursday, they opted to indict Trump but the court document was sealed and opened today.
As of right now, it is yet to be publically unveiled after the court hearing has concluded. But after it is made public, it would provide great insight into the types of charges brought forward.
