President Trump pictured helping shovel dirt onto a replacement for a historic White House tree that had to be removed because of safety concerns linked to its deteriorating condition.

Trump shared how he did what he had to do and that the old tree planted centuries ago needed a revamp as it had gone above its age.

The White House didn’t allow news media coverage of the tree planting ceremony but afterwards there was a brief video clip on social media of the matter going viral.

Trump shared how the southern magnolia had stood for decades near the west side of the South Portico of the White House.

It’s where presidents and prime ministers are often welcomed on their visits. This is also where the president himself exits to board the Marine One helicopter or returns after the trip.

According to the National Park Service website, it was President Andrew Jackson who brought the tree’s seeds from his home near Nashville in Tennessee.

The seeds apparently were planted in honor of his partner Rachel, who passed away shortly before he took office in the year 1829.
