One of the world’s oldest conjoined twin pairs has reportedly died.
Lori and George Schappell were said to be the oldest in the world and even gained recognition from the Guinness World Records regarding this ordeal. But today, they were confirmed dead at the age of 62.
The pair were reportedly joined at the head and therefore shared a blood supply and nearly 30% of their entire brain.
This is said to be the rarest way for the twins to be conjoined to one another and therefore make up nearly two to six percent of cases seen worldwide.
But despite being joined at the head, they somehow made it work and managed to lead an independent life that not many could ever imagine. The news of their death has left the world stunned as family members grieve the loss that they never saw coming.
The shocking part related to their lives that left many stunned is how one of the twins, George, came out as a trans man and this was something he kept quiet and to himself for years including his sister for decades.
“When asked why, he said that he knew from a very young age that he should have been a boy. But the fear of the world judging him and his sister left him with no option but to keep it all inside”- sources added.
