The founder of FTX has reportedly refused to go to jail while giving the excuse that he’s a vegan and needs his medication.
According to reports from local media outlets, Sam Bankman-Fried has recently been denied bail but he is still pushing forward with his claims and is begging to be kept away from prison.
The ex-king of cryptocurrency says there is no way he would be able to survive in a place like that and hence fronted a court hearing in the Bahamas recently where he is being kept after getting arrested during the earlier part of this week.
Meanwhile, reports from the Daily Mail spoke about how his lawyer did everything in his power to try and rid him from jail with bail but it just didn’t work and he is back to square one. But he is still waiting for another hearing.
Jerome Roberts was also seen arguing that the 30-year-old needed to be out of jail as soon as possible so that he could be free to take his medications and maintain a regular diet that was vegan.
Other reports from CoinDesk spoke about him testifying in front of the judge and jury handing his case that he does take allergy pills that are available over the counter. This includes such Emsam patches that help to curb his depression on a daily basis.
Similarly, we saw a group of lawyers promise a massive monetary reward that would help with his bail and even force the defendant to go on and wear ankle bracelets that would reduce his flight risk.
When the judge questioned how much money he was actually willing to give up, the answer was very diplomatic and the lawyer added that he hoped his client would not crucify him for stating the amount. But given such circumstances, it would be anywhere near $250,000.
