The sudden rise of the HMPV infection in China has left many people around the globe at the end of their seats.
Patients in the Asian nation received warnings from health experts to not try and fight this virus alone.
As per reports from Chinese state media, pulmonology specialists are now urging patients to think before acting. This includes avoiding using common antiviral drugs and any anti-bacterial drugs to fight off the HMPV infection.
In another recent interview that was published, the doctors warned that no clinical studies are pointing towards any vaccine or medications for this virus.
For this reason, patients were advised against using common antiviral drugs and any antibacterial drugs on their own. Instead, they need to follow a set of prescriptions that are provided by their doctors after assessing them.
Doctors confirmed that this virus is self-limiting to a certain extent. Most symptoms do end up getting resolved in about a week. In cases when the symptoms are on the mild side, recovery is expected in nearly one to two weeks.
The incubation period after being infected is usually three to six days and the symptoms experienced are very much like influenza, they confirmed in the public statement.
