Administration officials cited cracking down on illegal immigrants on voter rolls as one of the executive order’s main goals for amplifying Trump’s grievances about election integrity.

Trump signed the latest order on Tuesday that would require more evidence of American citizenship on election forms in another aggressive push to catch and then combat voter fraud, which is very rare.

The latest order calls for the Election Assistance Commission to force people to prove to the government that they have US citizenship for registering to vote in federal elections.

This new law would direct state of local officials to record and verify the data. It also seeks to force states to count ballots by Election Day.
