FIFA’s president has reportedly called for a one-month-long ceasefire in the current Russian war against Ukraine.
Gianni Infantino says that the world cup ceasefire would not only allow the world to unite as one under the banner of support but it would also allow many to enjoy the sports fever, just in time for the grand tournament to begin.
The news was recently announced by him during the G20 world Summit that is taking place in Bali. This is just a few days before the mega tournament begins in Qatar as anticipation runs at an all-time high for the nation that is hosting the event for the first time in history.
Qatar is a small Muslim nation and for it to prepare for such a grand scale event has really taken years but so far, things do look promising. Alongside that, we’re hearing so much controversy also arise across the board. This is linked to strict rules and regulations in place like no acts of indecency and drinking and gambling.
Those found guilty of such behavior would be heavily penalized, the country’s government officials confirmed during a recent press conference.
As far as Putin’s violent invasion against the country of Ukraine is concerned, it’s going to be a staggering nine months since we first heard of it taking center stage. And while there are no signs for it to stop anytime soon, the FIFA president has urged both nations to understand the situation.
Similarly, he urged other top country leaders to intervene and help put an end to it while calling the force of football a powerful one. And while it may not end up solving all problems and creating a miracle, there’s always room for a little positivity in terms of sports.
