A New York City banker who disappeared while vacationing in Spain was reportedly found dead.
According to reports from local media outlets, his body washed ashore, and the authorities confirmed that the remains did indeed belong to him.
His family is devastated and claims that they had no idea that he was missing for weeks and were only told about the tragedy recently.
Grant Barr was a 37-year-old banker who worked as an alternative funds lending specialist with BNY Mellon. He disappeared on January 28 while visiting Estepona, which is a coastal town on Spain’s Costa del Sol.
As shared by People magazine, Barr had traveled to the area for a sailing getaway, and that was right after his family members described it as the most difficult breakup.
His pants, passport, and boating license were discovered abandoned on a nearby beach. This resulted in a frantic search to locate him, and it spanned weeks and even crossed borders, as per The New York Post.
There was a point where his family feared that he had left Spain entirely, possibly making his way to Germany, Switzerland, and Amsterdam. What they were not aware of was that his body was washed ashore, and now they’re filing for more details on the investigation regarding him.
