Extreme thunderstorms have hit the state of Texas with hail that is believed to be equivalent to the size of golf balls.
Severe winds were compared to that of a hurricane, leaving one million people from the lone state without power.
The hail and winds managed to wreak havoc in Houston as well as the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan areas during the afternoons of Tuesday.
Hundreds of flights across the state were canceled for this same reason including those at the Dallas-Fort Worth International as mentioned by FlightAware.
These storms are expected to last through the early hours of Wednesday as confirmed by the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, wind gusts were said to exceed 75 miles per hour in various parts of southeastern Texas while tornadoes would be possible in Southern Texas until 1 am local time.
Hail in the region was predicted to exceed two inches during the night hours of Tuesday which could go about reaching the size of a tennis ball, sources have confirmed.
Hial can lead to extreme damage to vehicles and the roof shingles as well as those parked under giant trees for shade. As far as the power outage is concerned, officials fear it might take a few days to repair, plunging into a state of darkness.
