Tragic reports have confirmed a horrifying incident where a couple’s happiest moment was quick to transform into one of their saddest to date.
According to sources from local media outlets, the wedding went up in flames literally after a mega blaze ripped through the party, and that killed more than 100 people.
While the bride and groom did manage to miraculously escape in the nick of time, the same cannot be said for their friends and loved ones attending the event.
The incident arose in the Qaraqosh city of northern Iraq on Tuesday. It resulted in the death of more than 100 individuals and injured close to 150. This led to serious anger at the lack of safety measures at a place in the venue.
Fireworks were set off at the location and that is what led to a mega blaze arising and running out of control. The hall didn’t meet the criteria for safety of using the fireworks and therefore the ceiling ended up collapsing down to the ground and injuring all those below.
The country’s defense minister condemned the incident and vowed to bring all of those responsible for the act to justice as hundreds mourn the loss of dear loved ones killed in a senseless act.
