Barack Obama is making history again after winning an Emmy Award for the Netflix documentary ‘Our Great National Parks’.
Obama is now the second president in the country’s history to be honored with such a prestigious award after Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Number 44 is now believed to be just midway to getting the EGOT which is when the same person is honored for achieving an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
In 1956, we saw President Eisenhower given the same honor as an appreciation for his role in television and Obama is following in his great footsteps for great achievements.
The former US President was seen winning Grammy awards for his audiobooks linked to his memoirs called ‘Audacity of Hope’ and ‘A Promised Land’.
Meanwhile, his wife Michelle was seeing winning her own Grammy Award for the reading of her audiobook in the year 2020.
Seeing her husband win this award has really made her and the family proud, she revealed. But Obama has been blessed with a lot of honors in the past as well. For instance, in the year 2009, he was a recipient of the famed Nobel Peace Prize. And that made him third after Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Jimmy Carter.
This particular accolade was for Obama as the best narrator on his Netflix documentary series. The first episode was released on April 13, sources explained.
The series comprises five different parts and it also featured various national parks from around the globe. Moreover, the production is a joint venture between both Michelle and Barack’s company called Higher Ground.
Without a doubt, Barack was one of the biggest names in the category that featured a number of other famed nominees. Hence, the competition wasn’t easy. These included the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lupita Nyong’o, and David Attenborough.
