A four-month-old child was left in a coma after his grandmother from Italy opted to dilute his milk using the unthinkable.
In most normal scenarios, it would have been done through thorough mixing of milk powder with water. But she failed to do that and chose wine as that was at easy disposal for her.
The baby is now in a dangerous health condition and is said to be suffering from an ethyl coma. But the grandma says it was an honest mistake and she thought the bottle of wine was water and therefore accidentally used it for dilution.
The incident is believed to have taken place in the Italian province of Brindisi which is where the baby was given the bottle at midday on Monday. He ended up consuming the powdered milk and then after realizing the mixture was off and something was wrong, he stopped.
“The baby just rejected the bottle and wondered what was the matter. So I tasted it and tried to figure what could have gone wrong. This is what made me realize that maybe something had expired”- she explained.
After checking the ingredients, she realized what she had done and the grave mistake she had committed.
The baby was soon rushed to the nearby Perrino Hospital where he was given immediate attention by the doctors. But he is in grave danger and enters a coma stage.
