A new day means a new form of controversy arising for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar with just one day left for the opening ceremony to being.
While the stage may be set, fans are losing their minds as Qatar introduced a wide array of rules and regulations that it feels need to be followed, or else the punishment can be severe.
Qatar is a small Muslim nation that takes its religious and cultural values so seriously.
Therefore, there have been some major restrictions placed on the likes of dressing, drinking, clubbing, partying, and indecent behavior. Similarly, gay couples and the promotion of homosexuality have also been banned by the authorities as were other acts related to indecency.
As one can probably imagine, the news did not go down too well with so many people who felt the time has come to raise their voices against the oppression taking center stage.
Now, the latest dilemma has to do with instructions being provided regarding the dressing of the wives and girlfriends of leading soccer stars. And that means only modest clothing would be allowed.
Hence, short skirts and low-cut tops will not be tolerated as would any form of clothing showing an excessive amount of skin such as bikini tops.
Authorities provided a justification for the request and claimed it was in the best interest of them and others locals who might take offense from clothing that was too revealing as it went against the nation’s strict traditional beliefs.
For this reason, it is expected that such individuals would be wearing linen trouser suits and long dresses and will soon also have their arms covered to show respect to all local traditions being followed in Doha.
