A woman was left in critical condition after being pushed off a cliff by a wild goat while hiking.

The 64-year-old Dutch lady in question was reportedly hiking with two friends in the Alpujarra hills in Granada, Spain, when the trio ventured into the territory of a protective ibex that was ready to defend its territory at any cost.

Upon approaching the edge of a cliff in the mountainous region, the elderly woman was charged by a wild goat that sent her plummeting over sixty feet deep.

After the fall, the woman landed on a ledge. While she broke both of her wrists in the process, she miraculously survived the fall.

The goat then proceeded to attack her two friends, who are said to be Belgian nationals, and managed to knock one of them unconscious.

After the shocking altercation, the Belgian hikers were found by a local shepherd who called for help. The two victims were then taken to the hospital by a rescue helicopter.

Meanwhile, the rescuers struggled to reach the 64-year-old woman who was lying helplessly on the ledge sixty feet beneath the clifftop.

Due to bad weather, the rescue mission had to be paused and it wasn’t until the next morning that the team finally reached the woman and transported her to the hospital.

The woman was treated for broken wrists and hypothermia but is expected to live.

As experts have warned, mountain goats can be particularly aggressive during the mating season and the birthing period which peaks in mid-May.

During this time, every herd is known to have an alpha male who protects the group from outside threats – in this case, unaware hikers who wandered into the mountain goats’ territory.
