Tragedy arose for six families on Wednesday after the Coast Guard announced how all the missing construction workers who fell into the river when the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed are now presumed dead.
The Coast Guard confirmed how it was no longer taking part in the active search and rescue mission for missing victims who are said to be working on the bridge when a giant vessel rammed into one of its support pillars during the morning hours of Tuesday.
Based on the evidence attained so far and taking into consideration the cold water temperatures too, many believe it impossible for anyone to still be alive. This is why with a heavy heart, the families were notified about the devastating ordeal.
Other reports from local media outlets highlighted how the divers would be returning into the water by 6 am to carry on with search efforts to locate their missing remains. “At this point, we are not quite sure where they are”- a spokesperson for the Maryland State Police added.
But they do hope to give their best efforts towards assisting the families affected in regards to finding closure on this matter.
