Surgeons have reportedly made history in the world of medicine after successfully transplanting a pig’s heart inside a human.
According to local media outlets, a patient by the name of David Bennett became the first person in history to receive a genetically modified heart that belonged to a pig.
The record-breaking operation comprised of nine long hours where top-of-the-line surgeons worked round the clock to put the heart inside, offering hope to so many in need of organs on a daily basis.
Bennett happened to be suffering from a life-threatening medical condition and he was in dire need of a heart transplant which came through on Tuesday with this miraculous and ground-breaking surgery.
The actual surgery was reportedly carried out on Friday, after which the patient was reportedly kept under strict observation for three days since receiving the unique transplant.
Meanwhile, details of the exact procedure were given out by Dr. Bartley Griffith who stands as the director of the cardiac transplant program where the historic operation had recently taken place.
He revealed how the heart managed to create an adequate pulse and pressure and is now his heart.
“It’s working and it looks absolutely normal. We are so thrilled about this news but we have no idea what tomorrow will bring forward for us,” he boldly declared during his recent press conference.
“This has never ever been done before,” the surgeon reiterated, adding how it was an absolute moment of golden glory in the world of medicine.
Bennett agreed to undergo the risk of experimental surgery in the month of December, hoping that it would give him a new life. And at the moment, the heart has managed to do just that as he is happy and healthy.
