Amazon has left the world of tech in a state of complete shock after submitting a last-minute bid to acquire TikTok.
The news comes at a time when the world’s famous video-sharing platform is facing a ban in the US for having complete Chinese roots.
Now, Amazon’s entry into the race has intensified the battle even further regarding its future.
The Trump administration had given the company until April to choose how it wished to be split up, with 50% shares going to an American company or seller.
So many names were included in the race for possible buyers, including the likes of Walmart, Oracle, and Microsoft.
They showed mega interest in getting the platform, but Amazon’s entry into this fray has left many stunned, as people were caught by surprise.
Despite the major move by the e-commerce giant, officials in the Trump administration are yet to take the bid seriously as they feel there are many other contenders in the race and it’s going to take more than a high bid to win TikTok.
Amazon made the formal request today and shared their thoughts on a letter penned to VP JD Vance. Still, it’s yet to alter the stance of the government regarding the platform’s future in America.
