The world’s oldest man celebrated yet another birthday just a year after beating Covid-19.
Andrelino Vieira da Silva is a Brazilian centenarian who is believed to be the world’s oldest living person at the age of 122.
As his family confirmed, Andrelino lives in Aparecida de Goiania, Goias, and is “still going strong” despite suffering from Covid last year.
The pensioner also showed off his ID card to prove his age after baffled viewers suggested he doesn’t look 122 years old at all.
According to the document provided by da Silva, the elderly man was born on February 3 back in 1901.
Nowadays, the pensioner continues to enjoy his retirement while boasting 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Andrelino recently also welcomed his first great-great-grandchild.
While the great-great-grandfather happily showed off his ID to prove his age, he has so far not attempted to have his age officially verified by the Guinness World Records.
This means that the official title-holder for the oldest person alive is currently 115-year-old Maria Branyas Morera of San Francisco.
Morera was handed the title following the death of 118-year-old nun Sister André from France.
“He is still going strong,” Andrelino’s granddaughter, Anaina Lemes de Souza, told the local reporters ahead of her grandfather’s birthday.
“This year we are not going to do anything because some other people in the family are having some problems, so we are not in the mood for the party.”
The family celebrated the special occasion with a birthday cake bearing a hilarious inscription that translated to ‘The terror of the INSS [National Institute of Social Security]’ in a reference to the man’s decades-long pension claim.
