While gaffes have turned into a norm for the American President, seeing them occur time after time still has many people perplexed.
The perfect example has to be related to Biden’s shocking viewers in terms of his recent speech for teacher’s day. To honor the occasion, he adopted a rather bizarre twist of words for his speech to a live audience. And it’s safe to say that it did leave quite a few eyebrows raised.
Biden mentioned on Friday how he recognized one of the audience members seated in the audience, listening very carefully to what he wanted to say.
“She was 12, and I was 30!”- he revealed and as you can imagine, there was a definite awkward silence all around.
Social media was abuzz with seemingly inappropriate comments because many wondered why and where they came from. Remember, this is supposed to be a formal affair with the US president leading by example. But it just turned out to be another major gaffe.
Many called the president’s words highly inappropriate while there were a few that couldn’t be bothered because that’s just how used to it they have become.
For now, the White House is still not responding to any queries and requests for comments on the situation. They just might be as confused as the rest of us regarding what the US President actually meant.
The President has been known for some foot-in-the-mouth instances including camera grimaces and touching young women and even smelling them in public. Thankfully, he is yet to make those mistakes again, which were last seen in 2019. This is also when he issued a public apology to someone for making them feel uncomfortable due to unwanted physical contact.
Biden continued after the awkward silence in front of the teacher’s union how it was the Republicans’ fault that gun violence is increasing. And that’s when he called for a ban on assault weapons.
