China is currently on high alert after reports of a new virus mirroring the symptoms of COVID-19 with flu-like symptoms has started to spread across the Asian nation.
Social media posts published from the mainland spoke about an overflow of young kids in hospitals having very high fever, coughs, and a lot of sore throats.
The figures were seen peaking over the past couple of days. The hMPV or human metapneumovirus causes cold-like symptoms and could be the main reason behind the outbreak, sources shared.
Thanks to a new study by the government of the United Kingdom, the study is known for tracking COVID-19-like ailments and it shared how the hMPV condition behind China’s outbreak is well prevalent on British shores. The positivity rose slightly to 4.5% with the greatest positivity in children below the age of 5 years.
