The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, may reportedly make his debut at the Oscars this weekend.
According to local media reports, Zelensky is currently in talks with ABC in regards to speaking at the Academy Awards.
This means the hero president that has been acknowledged around the globe for his true bravery and defiance to fight for his country will now be addressing the world at the leading awards show.
The President, who was an actor himself in the past, is reportedly gearing up to make his appearance via a taped message or perhaps a live broadcast.
Meanwhile, there are some critics who are putting forward their great concerns on the matter and how the decision could potentially lead to the famous Academy Awards being politicized.
Keeping in mind the ongoing conflict and brutal hostility by Russia in the country, many believe the move could bring backlash from all corners for giving the decision a green signal.
ABC who are behind the show’s broadcast has revealed how they stand behind the President and are in favor of him addressing the audience and making a statement.
Throughout his career as an actor, Zelensky had starred in a leading television show called Servant of the People and that is where he played the part of a history teacher that was unintentionally elected as the country’s head of state after one video of his role giving an anti-corruption rant went viral.
The news of the leader making a potential appearance comes at a time when the show’s co-host, actress and comedian Amy Schumer, stated how she wasn’t afraid to address the tragic war at the Oscars.
“I am not afraid to go there”- the actress mentioned in a bold manner.
Whether or not the decision to allow the President to speak pulls through or not, time will tell, as many are anxiously awaiting for the countdown to begin.
