More details about the former NFL player who killed his doctor and his family have emerged following the devastating South Carolina mass shooting.
On Wednesday, 32-year-old ex-NFL star Phillip Adams visited the Rock Hill home of his former doctor, Robert Lesslie, and fatally shot the man and his family after “he stopped prescribing him pain meds.”
According to the reports, Adams fatally injured Dr Lesslie and his wife Barbara. The gunman also killed the couple’s grandchildren, 5-year-old Noah and 9-year-old Adah, and a 38-year-old HVAC technician James Lewis who was working at the family home at the time of the shooting.
Critically wounded was also Robert Shook, the co-worker of the deceased technician. As of this writing, Shook is reportedly in a “very critical” condition.
After murdering five people and critically injuring one, the former NFL player took his own life with a shot to the head. His body was discovered early Thursday.
Following the heartbreaking event, Rep Ralph Norman, who was reportedly close to the victims, revealed he was told by the authorities that Adams committed the mass shooting after his doctor stopped prescribing medication.
Meanwhile, the gunman’s father, Alonzo Adams, spoke out in an interview with WCNC and insisted that his son “is a good kid.”
“I can say he’s a good kid. I think the football messed him up,” Alonzo said as he suggested football concussions drove his son to commit the murders.
It has since the shooting also been revealed that the 32-year-old gunman just recently moved to Rock Hill with his parents. He reportedly lived just minutes away from the doctor’s home and had a history of run-ins with the police over weapons and assault charges.
