Nick Cannon welcomed his fourth baby in just one year and insists that it was “on purpose”.
Nicholas Scott Cannon, 40, is an American comedian, rapper, television presenter, and actor. Nick began as a teenager on television in ‘All That’ before going on to host ‘The Nick Cannon Show.’
Nick Cannon welcomed his seventh child in July, his fourth baby in the last year, and opened up about his decision to expand his family.
During the latest sit-down chat with The City Girls on his show Nick Cannon Radio, the comedian shared that his decisions to bring children into the world were not impulsive.
In the conversation, Nick asked City Girls rapper JT, 28, if she had any honest advice for him.
“I mean just stay true to yourself and wrap it up,” JT responded.
Nick joked back and said, “wrap it up, like, hurry up and wrap it up?”
“Wrap it up as in wrap it up and protect yourself,” JT repeated, a phrase relating to using protection during intercourse.
“I’m having these kids on purpose,” Nick responded. “It wasn’t no accident.”
“Trust me, there’s a lot of people I could’ve gotten pregnant that I didn’t,” Nick continued. “The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant.”
Despite the babies being born so close together, Nick has insisted that there were no mistakes.
The Nick Cannon Show host also compared his pattern of welcoming his kids into the world to that of a seahorse.
“I’m like a seahorse out here,” he said. “That’s just the way I’m procreating.”
Abby De La Rosa, 30, international DJ, Nick’s partner, revealed that she gave birth to her twins, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, on June 14th, 2021.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Scott, 26, a model, Nick’s other baby mama, welcomed baby Zen Cannon in late June 2021, sharing a photo of herself holding the little one in a black and white photo.
Nick’s former partner, Brittany Bell, 33, gave birth to his third child, Powerful Queen, in December. They also share four-year-old son Golden “Sagon”.
Former America’s Got Talent host is also father to 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe Scott, who he shares with ex-wife Mariah Carey, 52.
Nick married American singer Mariah Carey in 2008. The couple separated and filed for divorce in December 2014. The divorce was finalized in 2016, and they co-parent their children since.
In 2018, Nick told People Magazine that he doesn’t like to use the term “co-parenting” when it comes to raising his children with Carey.
“It’s funny when they say “co-parenting” – that phrase is a little redundant,” Nick said. “You can’t co-parent, you have to parent, and that’s what we do well because when it comes to our children, we’re selfless individuals – they’re first.”
“You’re reminded that it’s all about unconditional love and they’ve got to understand that to its core,” he added.
“Whenever we can show that – even if we’re not together, [that] we love each other unconditionally – and become that fine example to our children, they’ll grow up to be good human beings, hopefully.
”
Nick also suggested that fathering many children was partly due to his anti-abortion beliefs.
In 2017, the father of seven discussed with Howard Stern that because of his Lupus diagnosis, he could die any day. So instead of fearing death, he chooses to embrace life and that includes unprotected s**.
When Stern hinted that with that kind of mindset he could live to be 90 with 100 kids, Nick said: “That’s f****** amazing. Then I’m like Job from the Bible.”
