Nike, at its London flagship store, has divided opinion after unveiling plus-size mannequins.
It is revealed that the sportswear brand has more giant dummies in the Nike store near Oxford Street.
There is also a women floor which has women’s team kits and customized sportswear as well as ‘extended offerings of plus-sizes.’ The decision is still moulding its negatives and positives while some people are arguing that it can help in obesity.
One person asked if the brand is promoting overweight people to wear these shoes or what? Also, others were quick to point out that those wanting to lose weight when exercising needed sports clothes to wear.
‘If they don’t have to work out clothes, how do you expect them to lose weight?’ one social media user asked.
Also, the other people who are positive about this change are appreciating it by praising Nike for it’s a new plan. One person said that it is so great that even after being larger in size now there won’t be size issues at this brand.
Another user said that the Nike mannequins make her feel empowered.
While someone also said that this is the first ever time a dummy is seen with a different shape and size.
The general manager and Vice president for women in Europe, Sarah Hannah said that it is a great moment for the women who are interested in sports because the redesigned commitment of Nike is to serve for the female athlete.
The London-based store confirmed that the mannequin fits size 1X clothing by the staff member. The company follows retailers including Debenhams in displaying size-inclusive mannequins also. Nike released a women’s plus-size range in 2017, offering sizes from 1X to 3X.
The campaign featured influencers Grace Victory and Danielle Vanier and also hammer thrower Amanda Bingson.
