No Party In Ibiza As Legal Issues May Stop Club Tourism Altogether


The nightclubs in Ibiza, with feverish parties and lavish extravaganza is off limits this year, as the Balearic Government is expected to introduce a bill on Friday which will completely ban all major clubs from reopening their doors, adding more restrictions and curfews on the nightlife scene.

This is all intended to prevent a second coronavirus introduction into the Isles, which is geographically more prone to damages by the virus’ spread, the clubbing environment considered also along with it. Venues which would have started the booking process in other years have completely abandoned hope, Hi Ibiza and Ushuaia giving up business intent this year. Spain is reopening borders but the nightclubs and bars will be shut through the rest of the season.

In a statement, Ushuaia Ibiza, one of the island’s biggest party destinations, said: “Following the news from the Balearic Government that no clubs will be allowed to open in Ibiza this season, it is with a heavy heart that we announce there will be no events this summer.point 346 |

The Balearic Island governmental authorities have been notoriously stern with reopening the nightlife scenes this year, starting with discos, late-night bars within the region, as the isles are now in its number three stage of coronavirus recovery.point 331 |

The regional tourism chief Iago Negueruela has said that A new coronavirus outbreak would kill the holiday season and we’re not going to take any risks.point 135 | ’ However, opposition still exists, especially for small-scaled clubs with little to no asset to withstand the current deficit.point 250 |

Therefore, options such as the mandatory wearing of facemasks in nightclubs and allowing people to enter bars but putting a ban on dancing have been discussed as options amongst authorities.point 161 | 1
