A nurse received the sad news that his grandfather lost his life to coronavirus just after he had finished his duty at an intensive care unit.
Manchester resident, 24-year-old Adam clicked a picture of himself working the night shift in an ICU, drenched in sweat and having sores from wearing a mask on his face.
Sadly, just after his shift ended, Adam got the heartbreaking news that his grandfather had died from coronavirus.
Adam, who identifies himself as a “make-shift ICU nurse,” shared the photo he clicked and suggested the viewers stay indoors to help stop the spread of the deadly disease.
A few weeks ago, he wrote on Facebook: “My self-isolation finishes tonight and on Monday I’ll start retraining in to critical care.
“And it’s really starting to hit me hard, to the extent I cant sleep, that in the weeks to come I’ll be one of the last people someones loved one will see, and the last voice they’ll hear.”
As the deadly virus is spreading in almost all the countries, the ones at the highest risk of contracting the disease are the medical workers.
Several medics have lost their lives to COVID-19 but they are still holding up their code of ethics, providing much-needed medical attention to patients without caring for their own lives.
Thirty-six-year-old nurse Areema Nasreen who had three children died from COVID-19 this Friday in the same hospital, Waksakk Manor, in the West Midlands.
Another medical worker, 39-year-old nurse Aimee O’Rourke, lost her life to COVID-19 in QEQM Hospital in Margate, Kent, where she worked.
So far, the total count of confirmed coronavirus cases in Britain stands at 51,608 and there have been 5,373 deaths because of the virus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has also been shifted to an Intensive Care Unit in London.
