A 53-year-old nurse, who contracted coronavirus while treating a patient, found dead at her homein Michigan.
Lisa Ewald, a nurse at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, believed she had contracted coronavirus while treating a patient without a mask but she was denied a coronavirus test twice.
Lisa, who had asthma, was working to save people despite her underlying health condition.
After she felt she had coronavirus, she requested a coronavirus test twice but was denied by the hospital as she had no severe symptoms.
Lisa, who had been working at the hospital for the past 20 years, was found dead alone in her home in Dearborn, Michigan just days before her 54th birthday.
Her family and friends told Lisa dedicated her life to healthcare and helping other people and described her as a ‘happy and optimistic person’.
A friend of Lisa, Joseph Lenard told that Lisa didn’t care about herself and her health and just wanted to help others during this pandemic.
Joseph Lenard said: “We all knew the initial news that this was going to hit the US but she gave no care or concern for herself but only care and concern for others.”
Wright Lassiter III, the president and CEO of the Henry Ford Health System, paid a tribute to the dedicated nurse and said they are trying their best to protect their employees.
Lisa’s niece and nephew, Mandi and Micah Standifer described her as a jokester who was a huge fan of the Star Trek series and the Harry Potter franchise.
Micah Standifer said: “It’s hard to believe this even happened because she was so full of life. She’s the person you would expect to beat it.”
