It is not merely an exaggeration but, the word surgery can give goosebumps to anyone.
It is a frightening thing not only for adults but for kids as well. Unknown places and people can make anyone scared. Hospitals are considered to be the most frightening places.
A nurse at UMPC Susquehanna hospital in Williamsport, Pennsylvania disproved the above statement by giving affection to a five-year-old boy and provided relief to a family.
Slade Thompson who is five years old, passed through two surgeries because he walked on toes, and a number of doctors were unable to diagnose the reason for walking on toes.
Numerous tests were performed and it was found that Slade is a toe walker. His family was reluctant to go to the hospital but later in the start of this year, Slade underwent surgery so that he could walk on his feet but for precautionary measures Slade had to use a wheelchair for almost two weeks.
However, in the same year, Slade underwent another surgery which was concerned with adenoids, tonsils and both sides of his nose. It was obvious that when he would get up after surgery when would be in need of care and kindness.
When Thompson came to know that his mother would not be there to console him, he asked his nurse if he was permitted to hug her. His nurse responded positively.
Annie Hager, the nurse of Slade Thompson revealed that most of the children after getting up from surgery, in which they are given anesthesia, irritate a lot. Similarly, Thompson went on crying because of pain. He had to wait unless or until nurses could look the vitals.
At that time Annie Hager consoled the little child by hugging her. It was an emotional scene for the parents of little Slade. That scene was captured by Slades’ mother for his scrapbook. Hospital management also gave positive remarks about the nurse by saying that they assure that their patients are satisfied with their services.
The mother and nurse both were satisfied and gave said that people should be clear with their children in order to avoid any circumstances because sharing details with your kids will cost you less burden and one bad experience do not make the whole community careless.point 345 |
