An ER nurse was placed on administrative leave after ranting against transgender and gay individuals on social media in response to a sanitary towel brand’s final decision to remove the Venus sign from its products.
Cindy Carter, a Cincinnati nurse, made the remarks which were shared on Twitter by Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach.
Carter works at the Bethesda Butler Hospital in Ohio and as an ER nurse for TriHealth, according to New York Daily News.
In numerous messages, Carter wrote that she didn’t believe in the existence of trans people. “Men need to be men. Women need to be women,” she added.
Carter allegedly wrote: “This country has gone to complete s***. Women have periods. Men don’t. Why do certain applications ask for LEGAL SEX….you’re either male or female. There’s no f*****g in-between. Jesus people get your heads on straight. Grab a mirror- it’s easy. You either have a d**k or you don’t.”
The nurse was reportedly reacting to Always’ decision to remove the feminine Venus symbol from its items.
It was in July when a trans activist using the pseudonym ‘Melly Boom’ wrote on Twitter and asked Always why it was ‘imperative’ to have the feminine sign on their products.
“There are non-binary and trans folks who still need to use your products too you know!” said the tweet.
The company’s marketing team then replied: “We are glad to inform you that as of December we will use a wrapper design without the feminine symbol.”
The statement added that the products with the new packaging would hit the market by 2020 and added: “We are absolutely grateful for having people like you voicing their opinions.”
However, Carter was not happy with the company’s decision and said: “I swear, these f*****g c**k -sucking homos think they deserve everything. And the confused woman are just as bad. Men need to be men. Women need to be women.
“Stop the s****d ass man buns and man your buns up to some hard labor. (Some people will have to google ‘hard labor’ to find out what that is… sorry asses).”
Sabrina Sells then posted the offensive remarks on Facebook and called on TriHealth to fire Carter.
TriHealth wrote in a Facebook post that it took the allegations seriously and started an internal investigation into the issue.
“The nurse has been placed on administrative leave for her safety and the safety of our patients while the investigation continues,” it added.
“We are committed to bringing this issue to a swift close and will provide an update when the investigation is complete.”
