A kind-hearted nurse has gone viral after knitting Yoda hats to convert newborns into Baby Yodas during the festive season.
The Mandalorian-styled Christmas hats were made by Nurse Caitlin Pechin who not only knitted Christmas hats for newborns but also gave them a twist by attaching Baby Yoda’s signature green ears.
As Caitlin from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, revealed, she loves to knit Christmas hats and had no problem sacrificing some of her time to come up with adorable Star Wars style headwear for kids at the new-born ward at the UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital.
The act of kindness went viral after Pechin dressed up the little ones into Yoda hats and matching T-shirts on World Kindness Day back in November.
“I made Santa hats with green ears to represent an alien, out of this world Christmas. Everyone really likes the theme,” the nurse explained.
As two parents who picked up their baby in a Yoda outfit explained, they were excited to see their son wearing the popular Star Wars character’s pointy ears.
“We’ve been laughing ever since we watched The Mandalorian when it came out. [Briana] looked at me and was like, ‘I want one.’ I was like, ‘Well, you’re gonna get a baby soon. We’ll try to find a Baby Yoda,’” Sean McGowan said.
“We’ve had the best experience here ever. [The hospital has] done so well and we credit it to having our baby here, absolutely,” wife Briana added.
While the couple’s dream came true, social media users quickly suggested they also wanted to have a baby Yoda of their own.
“This is tooooo cute, I want a baby Yoda too!” one person wrote.
“Sign me up,” another one wrote as she tagged her partner.
Following the praise from all sides, Chief Nursing Officer Patty Genday spoke out and revealed their hospital loves “celebrating the birth of our babies with their families.”
“We love celebrating the birth of our babies with their families and it’s just wonderful to see our parents look at their babies in these adorable little outfits and share them with everyone. It’s just a great experience for them,” she said.
