A 27-year-old nurse, who is 35 weeks pregnant, has recovered from coronavirus after receiving treatment for two weeks at a Wuhan hospital.
The expectant mother was discharged from Leishenshan Hospital and is the first pregnant patient who has recovered at the facility.
Ms. Hu was 33 weeks pregnant when was admitted to Leishenshan hospital after being diagnosed with the killer virus.
In an interview with local media, she said: “This is my first pregnancy. I really didn’t think I would be infected with the coronavirus. I was feeling very down. I was really worried about my baby.”
Doctors were extra careful and reduced the radiation when the expected mother took CT scans and other tests.
Gou Yuli, a matron from Leishenshan Hospital, also said that they set up video consultations with obstetricians to carry out antenatal checks for the 27-year-old mother.
Ms. Hu said the medics visited her daily to lift her spirit.
“My anxiety slowly went down,” she said to China Youth News.
After two weeks of anti-virus treatment, she was discharged from the hospital. “I was really touched by the medics and their dedication. They’re the best doctors I’ve ever met.”
The virus has infected more than 81,000 people in China and took the lives of at least 3,280.
As of March 26, 2020, there are over 470,000 cases of coronavirus worldwide, with more than 21,000 deaths. Italy has 74,386 cases with 7,503 deaths, while USA has 68,203 confirmed cases and 1,027 total deaths.
Spain reported 49,515 cases and 3,647 deaths, while Germany has 37,323 cases and 206 have died.
