NYC Nurse Stole Patient’s Credit Card To Buy Groceries Days Before He Died From Coronavirus


An NYC nurse was arrested and charged after stealing a patient’s credit card to buy groceries just days before the man died from coronavirus.

According to the reports, 43-year-old Danielle Conti stole the credit card belonging to 70-year-old Anthony Catapano who was suffering from COVID-19.

Using the credit card, the nurse, who had been working at Staten Island University Hospital North, allegedly bought $60 worth of gas and groceries.

As an inquest into the matter revealed, Conti stole and used the credit card on April 9, just three days before the COVID-19 patient died.

After the charges, including grand larceny and possession of stolen property, were laid against the nurse, the patient’s daughter opened up about the incident.

“I can’t believe a person could do something like that to someone fighting for his life. This is a nurse who took an oath to treat, protect and save patients. It’s disgusting…” Tara Catapano expressed in an interview with the New York Daily News.

“Never in a million years did I expect any of this to happen.”

The daughter also went on to call Conti “a despicable human being” and suggested she hopes the nurse “loses her license and her job.”

Following Conti’s arrest, the nurse has been suspended from the hospital, where she had been working since 2007, and is facing potential termination.

“Danielle Conti has been temporarily suspended and faces termination in response to the felony charges. We are working closely with the law-enforcement authorities and the hospital is conducting its own investigation,” the hospital spokesperson confirmed according to the reports.
