Most of us have heard of horror stories in hospitals.
But this one is the scariest of all as a nurse swapped more than 5,000 babies after deliveries!
Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa from Zambia, Africa admitted that she developed a habit of swapping babies ‘for fun’ while she was still working at the University Teaching Hospital.
She told the Zambia Observer that she will be dying soon from terminal cancer. That’s why she wanted to come out clean and ask for forgiveness to all parents involved.
Zambia Observer reported that the swaps lasted from 1983 to 1995. But the nurse doing such horrible crimes for more than a decade without getting noticed is very difficult to believe.
“I wish to confess my sins before God and before all the affected people especially those who were giving birth at UTH during my service,” Mwewa expressed. “I have found God [and I am] now born again. I have nothing to hide. In the 12 years I worked in the maternity ward at UTH, I swapped close to 5,000 babies.”
Some people think that Mwewa only made the story up to gain attention – and her posts on social media quickly went viral.
Lusaka Times started a preliminary investigation about the matter. But they found no nurse or midwife with the name ‘Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa’ working at the hospital during those years she claimed to swap over 5,000 babies.
Aside from her claims, Mwewa didn’t give any proof or supporting details of the swaps she allegedly made.
