After great anticipation especially from his ardent supporters, former US President Barack Obama announced that a memoir that looks back into his presidency will be released just days after the 2020 Presidential Elections.
A Promised Land is set to be on sale on November 17th.
According to Penguin Random House, which owns the publication rights, A Promised Land is the first part to a 2-part memoir of the Obama presidency. It will cover the times that his former book did not cover, starting with Obama’s early endeavors in politics up to 2011, when Osama Bin Laden was killed.
The book is expected to debut as a bestseller not only in the US but across the globe. According to the publisher, the book will be made available in 25 different languages when it gets published.
The hype was once again proved when the publisher announced that it has ordered 3 million copies of the book be printed for the first edition alone. The publisher said to accommodate the demand, they have outsourced a million copies to Germany where it will be shipped to the US.
The former President shared his personal thoughts via an Instagram post. Saying that there is no feeling quite like finishing a book, and expressed his satisfaction with the work. Obama said his goal was to reflect on his time in the White House with honesty.
According to the former President, he said he organized his time with key events and figures as well as all the right calls and mistakes that his administration made in their 8 years and the decisions that still reverberate to this day.
Moreover, he added that the book also looks into the personal lives and emotions that his family went through as the leader of the free world. Lastly, Obama said he contemplated and offered his thoughts in a tumultuous time in America, construed as an indirect reference to his successor.
According to those close with the former President, the book was always scheduled to be published after the election because Obama did not want his book to distract the election and thus affect the campaign of his former VP Joe Biden.
