In what can be termed as the future of virtual reality games, the American technology firm wants to end the usage of hands in VR games.

Oculus’ parent company Facebook recently revealed that it had bought CRTL-Labs.

“They’re the team working on neural interfaces,” Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and Oculus owner, said while addressing the Oculus Connects 6 conference.

They are making “a wristband that picks up electrical impulses and turns them into digital inputs you can use in virtual reality,” Zuckerberg added.

“It will give the sensation of being able to interact with digital objects.”

The company is planning to bring in a neural input device in place of the currently used Touch controllers.

“It’s clearly very early and it’s going to be a number of years until it gets into any of the products that we’re shipping, but it works,” Zuckerberg said.

The announcement came on the heels of another major news that Oculus is launching an update that will instill hand tracking in its Quest VR headset in 2020.

The new software update will make it possible for the headsets front-facing cameras to implement your hand movements in the VR games without needing the controllers.

Many believe that the VR gaming firm wants to reach that level where users just need a headset to play games, and don’t require a separate computer, scanners, and even cables.

Even though a VR headset that can be controlled just by our brain will take years to hit the markets, the sheer idea of such a possibility is enough to excite the gaming community.

At this point, we can’t even imagine how many applications such a headset would bring with itself. The thing which is certain is that, it would be the biggest breakthrough in the world of VR gaming.
