A West Bromwich police officer, Lee Bartram, walked free after admitting ten counts of production and distribution of explicit photos of children.
Bartram’s charges included recording a young boy while the officer was on duty and producing and distributing over 450 explicit pictures of minors.
Additionally, the pedophile police officer also said that he “may have tried to touch a child” if his behavior would go by undetected.
Following his confession at the Wolverhampton Crown Court, the 44-year-old depraved officer walked away free with a lenient 16-month suspended sentence and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
As for the reasoning behind such merciful sentence, Judge James Burbidge QC explained that while the officer’s actions were a “spectacular fall from grace” Bartram is a man of “exemplary character.”
The judge also claimed that his coworkers always “praised him in every manner possible” and looked up to him.
Following the trial, West Midlands Police Chief Constable, Dave Thompson, slammed the lenient sentence and demanded one of his own police officers, who used to be an inspector, to be jailed.
“The public expect the protection of the police and do not expect officers to break the law. This case is very serious and the sentence, in my view, is too lenient,” the constable said.
Thompson also explained that the force has since the sentencing been in contact with the Crown Prosecution Service in order to discuss an appeal.
Meanwhile, David Jamieson, Police and Crime Commissioner, is collaborating with the Home Office in order to attempt to withhold the 44-year-old’s pension.
