The family of one of the Louisville Metro Police Department officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor is asking people for donations for the cop’s early retirement.
As family members of Detective Myles Cosgrove, the cop who is believed to have shot 26-year-old EMT Breonna Taylor, insisted, the officer cannot safely return to his job which is why they intend to raise money to fund his early retirement.
“The family of Detective Myles Cosgrove, an officer involved in the tragic Breonna Taylor case, is starting this fund in order to help secure the safety of Myles and his immediate family going forward,” the

fundraiser reads.point 47 | 1According to the officer’s family, Cosgrove has received countless threats over his involvement in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor during the execution of a no-knock warrant back in March.
“It has recently become clear that it will be impossible for Myles to safely return to his position serving the community with the Louisville Metro Police Department,” the family wrote.
“We hope to raise enough funds to help him purchase the remainder of his service time, or ‘air-time’, so that he can retire from the LMPD and continue to focus on the safety of his family, a family that has been put continually at-risk over the past few months.”
As the organizers of the fundraiser claimed, Cosgrove’s family has been doxed whereas threats to him and his family have become “more legitimate and scarier.”
“Although Myles may never feel completely safe again, if you can help us reach our goal, we can at least get him on a path to security and allow him to focus on his main objective: the safety of his family,” the cop’s family concluded.
As of this writing, the family has already raised over $8,000 for the officer’s early retirement.
