When the residents of North Carolina called the police to report on a noise disturbance in the neighborhood, the cops did arrive but what happened next was something one can hardly believe!
Senior Officers Carrie Lee and Joe Jones from Asheville, North Carolina went to check a neighborhood after receiving a complaint call on July 2, 2017, according to ABC News.
When they reached the reported location, they saw a huge Slip ‘N Slide built by some residents of the area for a Fourth of July block party.
When the cops arrived, the hearts of people present there nearly sank.
“The officers got there and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, the cops are here. They’re going to shut us down,’ but they noticed the noise was fine. It was literally the sound of kids playing,” public information officer Christina Hallingse recalled.
Hallingse added that Officers Lee and Jones then joined them after they had investigated to see if the Slip ‘N Slide was blocking the vehicles.
“The Slip ‘N Slide, they noticed, was so far off the street that cars and emergency vehicles could still pass through, so it was perfectly fine, and they decided to join in on the fun. There were no citations issued,” she said.
To the surprise of local residents, Officer Lee slid down wearing a trash bag on her uniform.
Neighbor Katlen Joyce Smith said, “When the female officer asked for a garbage bag, we almost didn’t believe it. But she took off her radio and went for it!”
“They told us to have a great day, posed for some pictures and thanked us for the fun!” she added.
Another resident, Travis Eagledove, recorded the jovial moment of the officers having fun. “They had such good energy. All the kids were loving it,” he said.
Officer Jones even commented, “My butt is wet,” at the end of the slide.
“He thought he was going to [get] away with it because he couldn’t fit in a trash bag, but then a little boy ran and got a big raft,” Hallingse recalled.
Though Officer Jones initially did not want to slide down, he had no idea that he’ll end up setting a record. “He was the only one that made it all the way from the top to the bottom,” Eagledove said.
“It was the best slide from the three days of it being there. That was the only time, even out of all the adults and everybody, that’s the only time the inner tube made it from all the way to the bottom.”
