We all know that breaks and holidays always increase the will to work more and get more productive.
Microsoft Japan decided to give Fridays off as a three day weekend to all the 2,300 employees, and it’s fantastic to see that the break increased the productivity level when they came back to work.
Microsoft Japan started this special paid leave during August. Even when the employees spend 20 percent less time in the office, the productivity levels increase by 39.9 percent and it’s incredible.
One of the primary reasons for the productivity levels increase so much is that meetings were cut short to the main points and less time was getting wasted around by the staff.
We all ignore the deadlines until the last moment comes, and the same thing happens in all the big offices, but now that the time has been cut short, the staff knows that they have to work smartly and efficiently to meet the goals.
The three day weekend was not only beneficial for the employees but also helpful for the environment as the company started using 23.1 percent less electricity, and fewer pages were wasted.
It seems like the three days off weekends are an excellent option to create a healthy, productive, and efficient workplace.
The staff also claimed that they enjoyed these three days off weekends a lot, and it was worth it because when they were willing to work after the weekends.
The General Secretary of the Trade Union Congress said that it is inspiring to see how one shift in the working hours increased the productivity levels, and it seems like a great idea to lift the energetic environment in offices.
