An official from North Korea was allegedly arrested and executed after breaking coronavirus quarantine by visiting a public bath following his visit to China.

As Dong-a Ilbo paper reported, the trade official in question was apprehended by the authorities after visiting a public bath while he was ordered to stay in isolation.

Under strict measures taken to prevent the outbreak from spreading into the country, the official was reportedly arrested and shot soon after.

In accordance with Kim Jong-un’s orders, North Korea, which as of this writing hasn’t reported any confirmed cases of coronavirus, has imposed a lockdown on all individuals who had been in physical contact with the Chinese.

Failing to obey the orders, the official faced the ultimate consequences of breaking the “rule by military law” by leaving quarantine without permission.

According to the reports, another North Korean official has been exiled to a farm after attempting to conceal the fact that he was recently traveling in China.

While claims of North Korean officials facing deadly consequences for disobeying the rules imposed by the country’s Supreme Leader are quite common, they are also extremely hard to verify.

In a recent turn of events, Pyongyang has extended the worldwide-suggested 14-day quarantine period to 30 days.

Meanwhile, flights going into the country have been heavily reduced whereas road and rail connections are being seriously monitored.

As the state media alleged, the Red Cross of North Korea has also been deployed to help monitor, educate, and inform the population about the coronavirus outbreak.

“They are conducting information activities in various forms and by various methods at public places to introduce common medical knowledge about the epidemic and encourage people to give fuller play to the noble moral traits of helping and leading each other forward,” KCNA said.
