The world’s oldest couple celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary!
John Henderson, 106, and his wife Charlotte, 105, of Austin, have officially been declared the oldest couple in the world by the Guinness Book of Records.

This weekend, the community where they live celebrated their incredible achievement.
John picked up Charlotte in a 1920’s Roadster, just like he did on their first date together. He also gives her a beautiful bouquet.
Friends and family gathered at Longhorn Village Retirement Community and celebrated their marriage and toasted the couple alongside lots of food.
With Jason’s help, his great-uncle and great-aunt recognized as the oldest living couple and have been officially declared by Guinness World Records in November.
‘They are a wonderful couple, and an example of a very happy couple – glad to be around each other, travel together, and live life,’ Jason told KXAN.
‘They’ll tell you stories of the past, but they don’t dwell on the past,’ he said.
‘They’re just gracious, nice, kind people,’ fellow resident at the home Jim Bissett told KXAN. ‘They’re the salt of the earth.’
Charlotte and John met in class at The University of Texas in 1934.
John was a guard for the football team, while Charlotte was taking training to become a teacher.
The couple got married during the Great Depression on December 22nd, 1939, just months after the start of World War II.
And the secret of long life and happy marriage?
‘Live life in moderation and be cordial to your spouse,’ John said.
The couple will celebrate their 80 years of wedded on December 22nd while John will celebrate his 107th birthday on Christmas Eve.
