If you are of the opinion that after becoming a mom, that too after a cesarean section, a woman’s health can take ages to get back in shape, you’re in for a shock of lifetime.
Yes, Olympic gold medalist runner Allyson Felix shocks the world as she broke the record of the fastest man alive- Usain Bolt.
This Sunday, Felix, 33, 10 months down an emergency C-section took on the track and won the World Championship in Doha, Qatar. She raced in the minxed-gender 4×400 m relay.
Her latest victory depicts that Felix is now the proud winner of 12 gold medals in World Championships, which is more than the ones won by another World Champion Usain Bolt. FYI, Usain Bolt won 11 medals in world championships before he decided to retire.
Well, what’s commendable here is that she achieved all of it just after 10 months of experiencing a severe pregnancy condition- preeclampsia.
It is essentially abnormally high blood pressure experienced by someone who has never seen it in their bodies. This is followed by a sudden swelling on the face and hands. As per the experts at Mayo Clinic, this condition can have dire complications.
Despite all the complications, Felix was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl. And as soon as both of the escaped the health scare, Felix didn’t shy away from going back to track and winning over the world ones again.
If you speak to a new mom who just got back to work, it is normal to spot some fatigue on their faces. However, Felix appeared as if she is all set to take on Tokyo for Olympics 2020 already when she spoke to PEOPLE recently.
She said, ““It’s different, definitely challenging. I think for any new mom when she returned to work just, you’re exhausted and you’re balancing your family and what it all looks like. So it’s no different from me.”
Another reason why Felix’s life is inspiring is because her victory has proven to be a tight slap on brands like Nike who have been accused of paying their female athletes less just because they are pregnant.
