Have you heard of the new treats by Cadbury? Yes, I am talking about the Crème filled Eggs the company has brought out in a limited edition pack for Easter.
Well, all said and done keeping one side, we know why chocolates are bad for us. Yes because they are filled with sugar but hey, we all somehow make our peace with it and munch on those balls of love.
But this mother is shocked to find out the amount of sugar the company has put in one Crème Egg and you will be shocked to know it too.
A concerned mother decided to check the amount of sugar that was present inside the Egg. She got into some calculation and found out that the amount present was equal to the amount an adult needs to take daily in one single egg. Now, this was not something right.
To show what it actually looks like, Rebecca Bilham took 26g of sugar which was converted to 5 teaspoons and kept it on a black surface next to the Egg. She also kept a 2 penny coin so that the audience can have a good idea of the amount of sugar that was present in the egg.
In the caption, she wrote how disappointing and it was to find this lot of sugar in such a small piece of chocolate.
This can be a risk to the health of the consumer because NHS says that the maximum amount of sugar an adult should take in is 7 teaspoons whereas the amount for kids is only about 3 to 4 teaspoons and the Crème Egg is way beyond that.
Rebecca spoke out saying “It was frightening to see the amount of sugar present in the egg. Although it is mentioned in the description of ingredients, looking at it in reality was scary.
My son ate them on Easter but I am scared now and probably will never give him those treats ever again.”
